Unlike other destinations on the peninsula, Holbox maintains his small-town charm. The comparsas, are the main attraction of the carnival. They go through the main streets singing songs that tell stories of the island and some gossip from the last year.
Coming to the island in carnival season is living a unique experience. Walking barefoot, eating the catch of the day, enjoying music, dancing and lots of laughs.

Is no money spare on the comparsas. The outfits are spectacular, and the expectation is high among the dancers. Is amazing to see so many sparkles and colours together. The band accompanies behind with live music. Seriousness is suspended and enemies become friends.
Where does the carnival start?
In the main square, which runs out of empty spaces: locals, tourists, musicians, costumes, marquesitas and food stalls. You can dance to the rhythm of salsa and cumbia music.
Holbox nights taste like rum and salt. It tastes like pride and passion to wear plume and sequin. These four spring days are a great way to experience Holbox culture.
